Serving God’s People by Lady T

Serving God’s People by Lady T

About 20 years ago I was catering a luncheon when one of my staffers asked me if he could give three plates of food to some men who live under a bridge. I said yes because I was surprise that people lived like that. The next day I made a pot of soup and fixed 30 sandwiches and off to the streets I went. Being excited and full of joy about making a difference in society, I pulled into a park where there were some homeless.  I wasn’t as prepared as I thought, that’s an understatement. I opened the back of my truck and hollered “My name is Lady T and I have some hot soup and sandwiches for anybody that’s hungry.” Seeing two guys walking toward the truck, I turned my back to fix their food and when I turned back around a line of about 40 people had formed. I only had a small pot of soup and a few sandwiches. Needless to say, I was only able to feed about 35 and there were five people which I had nothing for. The last man in line said to me that he hadn’t eaten in three days and was so hungry. This really pierced my heart. I looked in the truck for anything that I could find to feed him and I saw one sandwich that had fallen out of the bag. I called him over and gave him that sandwich. He was so happy and so was I. When I got back in my truck, I thanked God for showing me my purpose in life which was to Serve His People.

Later, I visited Nigeria and Nicaragua to help set-up a medical clinic and an orphanage. I witnessed so much starvation and homelessness. When I returned to the States, I PROMISED God that if He gave me the supplies and the resources I would feed His people.

The rest is history. For 19 years now, I have dedicated myself to the homeless on the streets, in parks, alleys, under the viaducts and in the woods. Not to mention the battered women shelters, men shelters and 28 low-income hotels/ motels that house mostly prostitutes and their children, crack-heads and gang members. Women who have domestic challenges, whole families who sleep in cars and pregnant women sleeping on the ground. Elderly and veterans also make up a large population of the homeless. Black, White, Chinese, Asian, Hispanic, Indian, you name the race there is somebody homeless that I serve.

Our mission is to supply physical and spiritual nutrition to the less fortunate individuals who live outside the borders of walls. Our objective is to give the basic necessities of life, pray and encourage them.

In June, we constructed a building to hold all our supplies for the ministry. We presently serve over 300 homeless people a week out of the back of my truck. We survive strictly from monetary and material donations.
