How Easily We Are Fooled by Reflections?

What do you see when you walk down the street and look in the store window?

What catches your eye first? Maybe your movement being reflected back at you? Or do you focus on the display the store owner has so meticulously put together of items inside the window representing the design selections inside the store?

What do you swell on standing there gazing into that window? What looks back at you?

Do you wonder who that reflection is staring back at you or do you recognize the reflection looking back at you?

Where did those 5 pounds come from that you see being reflected from your hips and what about that hair? Had you noticed how thin and gray your hair had gotten?

Yes, I’ve asked a lot of questions in this blog but please keep reading and you will find the reason for so many questions.

Do you look beyond your reflection into the store? Who’s looking back? Oh dear, what are they thinking? Are they hoping I’ll come inside and be a customer or are they thinking – she needs to go on down the street – to that other shop where she can find her size better?

My Granddaughter came to help me do some things this summer that I have a hard time doing. (As she says, “You are old”) But, in my thinking I should be able to do all the things I used to do (but physically don’t need to be on ladders nor doing yard work anymore).

While she was working on her computer, a bird kept flying into the closed window. Time and time again it flew into the closed window, banging its head then flying to the tree branch and shaking its head. Can you imagine hearing a bird repeatedly flying into that window —– why would it do that? Was it flying into the reflection of itself, or did it think there were more open spaces, or did it think it was flying toward a mate?

I’m surprised now 8 weeks later that that same bird comes every morning and flies into that window, returns to the tree branch and REPEATS at least 5 times every morning.

Can I get a witness here?

If we do the same thing over and over and over and over without changing something, doing something different, stepping out of our comfort BOX — How can we expect to get any other results just like the bird.

It’s all up to us and our mindset where we go. What would be your choice: move forward, backward, or stay where you are? The wonderful thing about all this is we have been given “free will” by our Creator, God.

What do you want to reflect? What do you want your reflection to be in your world?

If you are not satisfied with your reflection, you are given a gift every day and every minute – It’s called PRESENT! Oh, how wonderful that you never have to repeatedly beat your head on that window, not changing day after day. Life is exciting when we make new or better choices, we allow ourselves to Experience new things.

Learn to love your reflections and be happy with them.
