26 May Keeping Cooking Fun by Brittany Nelson
Do you ever get tired of cooking? I sure do. Sometimes after work, I’m tired and just don’t feel like making an extravagant meal. After my husband and I started getting burned out from cooking the same recipes week after week, we started looking for ways to make it fun again. Here are a few discoveries we have made that keep the kitchen fun and the meals tasty!
One way we keep cooking fun is by finding fun food blogs with unique recipes. I got tired of using old school cookbooks, and needed something new. For example, we love reading the blog “Emily Bites” that has all kinds of fun recipes. She creates recipes that taste great but are healthy and she adds the Weight Watchers points for the serving size. Some of our favorites are the enchilada quinoa bake and bubble up casseroles. The best part about her blog is that she doesn’t just do entrees. She has desserts, appetizers, and party food. We made her pizza burger sliders for a party and they were a hit! Whether you are a meat lover or a vegan, you can find plenty of food blogs to keep your dinner menu exciting.
Another way we keep cooking fun is by trying new cooking techniques. Recently we started sous vide cooking, a French technique where food is cooked in a temperature controlled water bath. The best part about sous vide cooking is that you can cook any type of meat just the way you want. You can make a medium rare steak and it will come out a perfect medium rare. The sous vide cooking devices are also great. They are like toys for the kitchen so guys will actually enjoy being in the kitchen and help to make the meal!
These are just a few ways we’ve kept cooking fun in our kitchen. What are you tricks and tips to keep things fresh in yours?
