24 Sep How Do I Clean My Makeup Brush Collection? by Julie Hoffman
I am a huge fan of makeup brushes. Every time I say that I have bought my last one, I end up seeing another one that I must have! And I highly recommend that everyone invest in at least a handful of nice makeup brushes, because they can make the biggest difference in your makeup application.
Many ladies are like me and have many brushes in their toolbox, but they find themselves throwing them away quickly or getting frustrated with the makeup dust mess they can make.
There is a solution for you – Weekly cleaning.
Of course, weekly cleaning is good for the obvious hygiene reasons, but it can also help your favorite makeup brushes last for years! And it will keep you from having the buildup of makeup powder in your cosmetic bags and boxes.
If you don’t want to invest in brush cleaner, never fear because you probably already have what you need to clean your brushes in your bathroom. And if you don’t, it can be bought very inexpensively.
Your facial cleanser that you are already using can be used to clean your brushes! As long as it is gentle, and you will only need a very little. If you have a stronger facial cleanser such as one with anti-aging or acne treatment in it though that will not be the best option for you. The harsher cleansers can break down the glue in your brushes and cause them to actually lose some of their life.
In that case, baby shampoo is your best option for your weekly cleaning ritual because it is so gentle. And any baby shampoo will do it, so you can opt for the cheap brand here. Save a little money so you can get another brush!
If you cannot commit to weekly cleanings, but still want to enjoy brushes you can use your makeup remover wipes you use to take your makeup off at night to just give them a quick wipe. Easy to remember when you are already using them to take off your makeup. This will help keep your brushes nice in-between regular cleanings.
I hope that this has helped you! If you have any questions, find me on Facebook and I’ll be able to help you.
