Hidden Wounds by Nickie Wheeler

There are battles going on every day.  We don’t always see them, we are focused on how rude this was or why hasn’t so and so called me, a million little things. I am caught up in this just like the rest of us! Do we feel frustrated that the clerk was brisk with us, did you know she is working 2 jobs as a single mother, she’s stressed? That person in line who is complaining about the cost if everything? Yep, they just lost their job. The person who cut you off on the highway,  they are racing to see their dying parent.
Everyone has a story, they are not wearing a sign, they are afraid, they are hiding, they are lost! That friend who hasn’t called you back, they feel guilty because of it and are worried about how long it has taken and you won’t be their friend, they can’t risk it, not knowing is comfortable for some people.
Sisters we are part if the solution. How? Our role is to be Jesus to the world. Our world, whether it’s your family, your workplace, your church (especially the church) your community, wherever you find yourself! Take a step back from the scene, pray, use the kind words you have inside you. You are what they need,  not good with words, then smile, afraid of how to do this,  focus on small changes. Challenge yourself to accept that every person you meet today is battling something, how does that change your view? Pray for the individuals who cross your path, even if they are cross. Lift up the friends around you. Reach out, reach up, be a light in the darkness.
You might be the only bright spot in someone’s day! You might be your only bright spot, you have a partner who never gives up on you. Jesus is beside us every step of the way. He is our constant companion and encourager.  He will guide you through the battles! Let him win!
