God’s Timetable Is Different Than Ours by Harriette Davis

I’ve been thinking about the time change. We know Jesus didn’t have a wristwatch or a pocket watch; He didn’t seem to be concerned about a time schedule. He lived moment by moment; He was available! Peter tells us in Acts 10:58 that Jesus went about doing good.

King Solomon makes the statement in Ecclesiastes 3:1, There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. I wonder what it would be like to live one month, one week, or even one day without a watch. We could sleep when we were sleepy; eat when we were hungry; work when we were inspired; help others when they crossed our path with a need; play with our children when we needed to laugh; stop and smell the flowers when we saw them in our path; have a come-as-you-are party on the spur of the moment.

We know that God’s timetable is different from ours. My thoughts are completely different from yours, says the Lord. Isaiah 55:8a. He calls us at different times for different missions that usually aren’t on our time schedule. These interruptions may be seen as interferences or opportunities. Ephesians 5:16 admonishes us to Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. Luke reminds us in Acts 1:7-8 that Jesus told us that, “The Father sets those dates, and they are not for you to know. But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about Me everywhere”.

God will reveal according to His timetable what He desires for us to do. We have this promise in Proverbs 3:15-16. Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your path. [time table]. Isn’t it exciting to know that we are on the schedule controlled by the creator of the universe!

Now turn from your sins and turn to God, so you can be cleansed of your sins. Then wonderful times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19-20a

Heavenly Father, may we focus on You, knowing that You will reveal Your daily plans for us. May we let our time change to Your time. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
