The word out on the street is you must be a “Somebody” to be of any value to yourself or others. Many people strive to be known by the world as a person of great importance; we dream of making millions, we push hard and hope one day to be a CEO of a top company, or maybe, we long to publish the next Best Seller or be voted Entertainer of the Year – the list goes on and on.  Let’s admit it, we are driven to be successful and yet, at the end of an exhausting day we often ask ourselves, is it really worth it?

The Good News is you are already a “Somebody – A Shining Star” in the eyes of God. You see, God already sees you as a person of Great Worth and Value. In His eyes, you have already arrived and He desires more than ever for you to see it for yourself and not rely on others to affirm your worth.

You may be thinking, “How is that possible?” Well, first you need to remember God has wired you to be a “Somebody” and that gives you all the validation you’ll ever need!  Second, your mind was created to be active, to develop new ideas and concepts, to be an excellent decision-maker, to be successful in life and to enjoy the fruit of healthy living.

Second, your mind was created to be active, to develop new ideas and concepts, to be an excellent decision-maker, to be successful in life and to enjoy the fruit of healthy living.

When I find myself struggling with the “Am I a Somebody?” syndrome, I do the following and it is very helpful in getting back on track:

• Write down what is bothering me, describing the obstacle/situation and my feelings
• Take a break and set aside time to relax my mind
• Talk to God and acknowledge I need his help in matters of the heart and decision making
• Open my heart to listen and be willing to make changes where needed
• Acknowledge that I am of value and worth and will succeed in my God-given purpose in life
• Remind myself on a daily basis that God made me a “Somebody– A Shining Star”
• No matter how outrageous it may seem, Dream Big and Create

Taking time to clear your head will help you remember your worth is not in what you do, but it is who you are and how you love and help others. Most importantly, with God by your side, you will always be a confident “Somebody,” a Shining Star on whatever path you follow in life!
