22 Jan Believe In God While You Are Waiting by Dr. Kim Nelson
God sent me a message today through Facebook. This post popped up as my most “liked” post from 2017. It is from the Rick Warren study Daring Faith our small group completed last year. As I read it, I thanked God for speaking to me a year ago to prepare me “…for such a time as this” (Ester 4:14) Looking back over the last year, I thought I had things figured out. A door miraculously opened for an interim promotion at work. It was immeasurably more than I could have imagined. (You may have read my blog about it and waiting on God.) I was disappointed recently to find out it would not be mine permanently. Honestly, I didn’t understand why. I questioned if I had been hearing God when that door opened. I had a picture in my kitchen that said, “I know not what my future holds but I know who holds my future.” I believe that and so I continued to pray, and God spoke.
Every Sunday morning there was a personal message for me through our study of Daniel.
- When fear looms large and powerful in life, choosing to act on faith over fear empowers us to live an uncompromising life.
- Disciples of Jesus are not alone when they walk through the fiery challenges of life.
- Pride will take us where we do not want to go and will compromise everything in our lives.
- Being faithful leads to becoming a “go-to” person for God.
- Depending on God honors Him through our lives and brings Him glory.

Last week we were visiting family out of town, and He had a message for me at that church too. I wrote it down, so I wouldn’t forget – Don’t let your circumstance change your perception of God. He is always faithful.
So where does that leave me? Every day as I do my temporary job for now, I know who I am working for. “Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than people.” Ephesians 6:7. I can trust Him no matter what and know that He will provide. “The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21. Things may not turn out as I planned however His plan is always better. I don’t have the answer yet but know He is faithful. Maybe next year I will be reading this blog and have more to add on where God has taken me. Wherever it is, I will be walking more closely with Him and praying for the faith of Daniel in the lion’s den.
