14 Jul The Perfect Love of God by Barbara Hall
In the early morning, waking from a deep sleep, feeling the aching of my body and not wanting to get up. Joey our friendly pit is getting ready to see my feet hit the floor to let him out for his morning run through the yard. Turbo our languishing Mastiff/Sharpei could sleep till mid morning, just as I would like to linger and rest awhile this morning, seemingly without a care. Today, like many days of late have been rearranged by unexpected things!!
Late yesterday the check engine light came on in my car – an alert of some malfunction, according to the manual. So, it’s one thing or another, a friend of mind says “if it’s not fleas it’s lice.”
The things that surprise us unexpectedly causes the light of anxiety to flare up inside of us, our minds start thinking of solutions, costs, who will help, sometimes we respond by withdrawing or being overwhelmed. It’s the alert of some malfunction that needs to be addressed, before it balloons out of proportion.
I’ve been praying and speaking the Word – Philippians 4:6 – Be anxious for nothing, in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving make your request known to God. Jesus is quoted in Luke 12:22-31 – do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on, for life is more than food and the body more than clothing – instead of worrying about your basic needs – seek first His kingdom and those things will be added to you.
But, we are anxious, we do worry and fear lives just under our skin. We know it’s there, for when something goes wrong it snarls at us.
Max Lucado says: “Anxiety and Fear are cousins, but not twins. Fear sees a threat, anxiety imagines one.” Fear screams “GET OUT”! Anxiety says “What If?”
Fear results in flight or fight. Anxiety causes gloom and doom. – The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional. Paul wrote, as quoted above in Philippians 4:6 Be ANXIOUS for NOTHING…. He did not say be anxious for less or anxious in seasons of extreme affliction. Paul implies an ongoing state or a perpetual anxiety that needs to be addressed.
We hear so much today about being anxious – having anxiety – I never realized that being anxious is more imaginable, than fact. Things are created out of fear – “what I feared the most has happened, they have come true.”
Yet, God says His perfect Love casts out ALL Fear, in His Love we are free of all fears clever disguises.
I’m on this journey of knowing what Love truly is – The Love that…. That LOVE that … the perfect Love that God gives us, enfolded, enveloped, encapsulated in LOVE that’s perfect in every form.
I listened to a song this morning, that was sung from the heart. You don’t know what it’s like to love someone, to love someone the way I love you. Is this God’s Love song to us? Will we ever truly know how He loves us? Love without conditions, never wavering, never doubting, the all knowing God does not measure LOVE, it’s always flowing, consistently without measure and never fails.
