17 Mar Springtime by Carol Storey
Spring is definitely in the air here in Georgia! It is 70 degrees outside. Yesterday, when we were standing outside, the sun was bearing down on our faces and making them turn red. Suntan anyone??
I had noticed in January that the birds were coming back to my yard. They were singing and flitting around searching under leaves for worms or food. Not so sure the ground was warm enough for the worms to be crawling around though. I do enjoy watching the birds as they go about their business.
Have you ever thought about wanting to be a bird? –Flying high above the ground and looking down on the earth? –Sitting on that electric line watching the traffic go by? —Spreading your wings soaring through the air? –maybe just gliding with the wind carrying you effortless along?
Birds seem to not have a care in the world. What do you think? Do you think they worry about where their next meal will come from? Do you think they worry about the rain hitting the tops of their heads? What about their young, do they worry if they will be able to fly away from the nest where they were born?
Have you noticed that the trees and flowers are beginning to bloom? I noticed the pretty yellow flowers that we look so forward to in the spring are beginning to fill the yards. My trees are blooming and it is February!!!!! Nature is so confused about when it is time for the seasons to begin and end, in my opinion.
What do you do during the Spring when everything comes back to life after a cold winter? Where do you go for hikes or bike rides? Do you yearn for the beach? Or do you go up to the mountains? Maybe it’s time in your area for some good fishing. Seems like on day everything is asleep and the next everything is coming to life – all green and blooming.
We were chatting about things to do during Spring breaks from school in March. I am thinking that winter will come back during that week and spoil these spring days we are having now instead of in April. I bet we have some snow or ice.
Enjoy your time this new season we are coming into. Make some special memories with your family and friends. Go places you haven’t before. Take a picnic basket with you and stop at a grocery store and get some delicious food and share them on a hillside watching as springtime unfolds.
I hope I’ve started you thinking about some different things you can do this year.
Get excited and go some different places. It’s beautiful outside.
