22 Jan Which Lipstick is for Me? by Julie Hoffman
With so many lipsticks out in the marketplace, it becomes increasingly difficult to know which is the right one for your personal tastes. It can be overwhelming to even think about finding the perfect shade let alone the right formula. So that’s why I made this guide to know the difference in lipstick types.
Long Lasting: Many women say that they would like a long-lasting lipstick, but they don’t really understand what that means. Yes, these lipsticks last a long time compared to others, but the downside is they can be very drying. If this is still the way you would like to go, be sure to use a lip conditioner nightly.
Moisturizing: Usually the second most requested lipstick is a moisturizing lipstick. These are great for very dry lips for obvious reasons. They can be known for not lasting very long. Combat the wear time with an extra tube to carry in your purse and try using a lip liner to fill in your lips with color before applying this lipstick.
Satin: If you are a gloss girl transitioning into lipstick this is for you. Satin finishes are usually light weight and not full color. They are not shiny or matte, but a nice in-between. They aren’t drying and stay on a little longer than moisturizing lipstick. These are in the middle of the spectrum of lip color types and usually come in an array of colors.
Shimmer: Glitter girls where are you? Shimmer is what you think…. shimmery, glittery fun. Pair these with matte eye shadows to amplify the glitter power.
Matte: Matte lipsticks right now are the biggest trend in lips right now. Though many are drying, there are formulas appearing now that can give you moisture as well. They are very versatile and make anyone of any age look sophisticated. If you haven’t tried a matte yet, I would definitely suggest adding at least one to your makeup case.
Bold: Bold is high saturated color. If you have gorgeous lips this lipstick will magnify them and get lots of attention. If going for a bold lipstick, play down the eyes. If eyes are your best feature skip this one and head over to satin or matte lipstick land. This is for kissable, look at me now lips only!
Lipstick can be fun and adventurous and hopefully that can give you a place to start! You’ll still need to find the shade that’s right for you, but at least now you’ll know which formula to start with. And of course if you have questions, please reach out to me on Facebook!
